Coat of Many Colours Africa (COMCA) was represented at the "West Meets East Africa" Pre-Mission Activation and AFCFTA Capacity Building Workshop held in Accra, Ghana. The event, organized to educate African women in business and trade about the opportunities available through collaboration, provided a platform for women entrepreneurs to explore avenues for expanding their businesses beyond local markets.
COMCA's participation in this significant conference was facilitated by Mrs. Angela Ajala, National Coordinator of the Association of Nigeria Women Business Network (ANWBN), who extended the invitation to the Foundation.
The workshop emphasized the importance of collective efforts among African women in business, highlighting the potential to grow and succeed through strategic partnerships. For COMCA, the event reinforced the value of their ongoing efforts, particularly the Exhibition of Skills and Talents initiative for children and youth with special abilities. The organization’s alignment with the Association of Women Entrepreneurship Programme (AWEP) was seen as a step in the right direction.
During the conference, COMCA representatives had the opportunity to engage with influential figures in the West African trade sector, including Mrs. Comfort Adjahoe-Jennings, CEO of Elegbe Agbe Company Limited and President of AWEP West Africa, and Alexandra Prempeh, President of the Organisation of Women in Trade (OWIT). The event also provided a platform to connect with other notable women in trade, such as the Founder and CEO of Nature's Gift from Gambia.
A key focus of the workshop was to raise awareness about the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) and the products offered by AFREXIMBANK to support women in small businesses. The upcoming Trade Exhibition in Kenya and Tanzania, scheduled for November 17th-22nd, was highlighted as a significant opportunity for West and East African women entrepreneurs.
COMCA views this as a promising opportunity to engage their youth with special abilities in crafts through internship programs and anticipates positive developments in the near future.
The event, convened by Mrs. Tokunbo Chiedu of Compass Global Services, was praised for its insightful content, aimed at encouraging collaboration among women entrepreneurs and emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in achieving larger trade deals.
COMCA expressed deep gratitude to Mrs. Angela Ajala for her support and participation, calling the workshop a successful and enlightening experience.
